FEED THE CHILDREN
The Philippines is made up of over 7,000 islands, yet only 11 of them are home to the majority of the country's fast-growing population. Poverty affects more than 20% of the population, with rates as high as 75% in some parts of the southern Philippines. Since 1984, Feed the Children has been working in the Philippines. Our Child-Focused Community Development (CFCD) method is now being implemented to address the immediate and long-term needs of children, their families, and communities. With our food and nutrition, health and water, education, and livelihood programs, we impact over 283,000 people in 38 communities. Working in both rural and urban communities to ensure that families have everything they need to raise healthy children is part of this.
Feed the Children is a child-focused community development programs that focus on reducing hunger and malnutrition, teaching health and promoting self-reliance in 8 countries in Asia, Africa, and Latin American. A program ready to assist, both locally and internationally.
Feed the Children’s international staff of more than 600 individuals has a diverse set of skills and expertise that ensure our programs are carried out with great dedication and bring positive impact to the families we serve. Over 98% of our international staff are nationals of the countries where they work, making sure our activities are culturally relevant and appropriate, involve community members as stakeholders, and can be sustained by the community.
FEED is working in the Philippines to improve the nutritional status of young children, increase access to education through various forms of educational support, promote healthy behaviors through water, sanitation, and hygiene training, and empower families and communities to overcome poverty and become self-sufficient. FEED the Children in the Philippines has been registered with the Securities and Exchange Commission since 1989, and the Department of Social Welfare and Development has granted it a License to Operate and Accreditation since 1991. A Donor-Donee Tax Exempt Status has also been obtained by the Philippine Council on NGO Certification. The corporation A nine-member Board of Trustees oversees the organization. FEED the Children Philippines is a branch of FEED the Children USA, which operates in ten countries around the world.
FEED Philippines implements the Child-Focused Community Development (CFCD) approach to address the interrelated factors that bring about children's issues and problems in the community. This approach has four program pillars namely: 1) Food and Nutrition, 2) Health and Water, 3) Education, and 4) Livelihoods. Parents and communities are prepared and equipped to place children's needs and priorities at the center of their development efforts and to make lasting change in their lives.
